Ultrasound imaging uses different waves of sounds to produce pictures of the inner structure of the body. It is used to help diagnose and examine the causes of pain, swelling, and infection in the body's internal linings and organs. Also to monitor and examine the fetus inside pregnant women and the brain and hips in infants. It's also used as a guide for biopsies,  diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, and assessment of the damage after a heart attack. Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive, and does not use ionizing radiation.

 


Fun Fact: Ultrasound was adapted from the same technology used for SONAR used in oceans.

 

Magnetic Waves Imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique that involves the usage of a magnetic waves field and computer-generated radio waves for the creation of detailed images of the internal structure of our body like tissues and organs. When you lie inside the MRI tube machine, the magnet realigns the cells in the body and the radio waves force these aligned cells to pass faint signals that cause the imaging of the internal structure. MRI is the most frequently used imaging test of the brain and spinal cord.

 

Fun Fact: MRI images are three-dimensional that help the doctors to view the image from different angles.
