BLACK FUNGUS EPIDEMIC INDIA 2021: DON’TS AND DO'S

A second epidemic broke out earlier this year. It was the sound of the epidemic of Black fungus or Mucormycosis. This fungal infection affected thousands of Covid-19 patients in India. This infection can lead to death at more than half the rate if left untreated. The Indian government increased surveillance as the number of cases began to rise. Late June saw 40,845 cases of mucormycosis. Most affected the sinuses, brain , and nasal passages. 85.5 percent of patients were in recovery from Covid-19, and over 3,000 people had died. To stop the spread of Covid-19, strict surveillance was required. The Indian Council of Medical Research issued guidelines to help in the early detection of the disease. This is a list that you should keep in mind when preventing mucormycosis.

Black Fungus Mucormycosis, also known as rare fungal infections, is an example. Mucormycetes are a grouping of fungi that can infect it. If not treated properly, it can become fatal. These fungi are found in all parts of nature, including soil and decaying organic material. The fungus may grow in the brain, sinuses, skin, lungs, and gastrointestinal (GI) system. Black Fungus treatment requires multidisciplinary approaches. Depending on the severity and varsity of the infection, it may include eye surgeons, ENT specialized physicians, general surgeons, and neurosurgeons. As an antifungal medicine, it requires the Amphotericin B injection.
