Ahaglow Face Wash: Hit or Miss?
Glycolic acid-based products work well for my oily and
acne-prone skin. I used Ahaglow face wash a long time ago, about 3 years ago.
At that time I didn't know much about AHA and BHA based
cleansers and treated toner like a regular. There's more to this facial toner
though! Read on!

Ingredients of
Ahaglow Facial Soap
Purified water, acrylate copolymer, sodium laureth sulfate,
aloe vera, polysorbate 80, sodium cocoyl, apple amino acid, decyl glucoside,
colored capsule, glycosylic acid, phenoxyethanol, fragrance, vitamin E acetate
and potassium hydroxide.
Packaging, texture and consistency
The toner comes in a yellow plastic tube with a flip-top
cap, though the toner is clear in colour. It has a liquid consistency and
consists of multi-colored milk capsules. Millicapsules are very soft and can be
easily crushed during use and are not made of plastic. The texture of the toner
is smooth, sticky and runny. While not sticky as such, proper care should be
taken while using it. The facial tonic smells pleasant of cologne, which does
not bother me at all. The smell is not permanent at all.
How to use Ahaglow
Facial Toner?
Wet the face with clean water. Squeeze out a coin-sized
amount of Ahaglow Facelift. Crush the capsule contained in the face wash gel.
Coat the tonic into your palms, then gently massage your face in circular
motions. Wash off with clean water and pat the face dry. Use as tolerated by
your skin for best results.
My Experience with
Ahaglow Facial Toner
Ahaglow
Face Wash is glycolic acid based and is designed to be used as tolerated by
your skin. I have used the toner daily, weekly and sparingly and will write my
review accordingly. Facial toner lathers very well and leaves enough lather.
Contains 1% Glycolic Acid, SLS, Aloe Vera and Vitamin E along with other
ingredients.
It exfoliates the facial skin in a single application,
leaving it quite soft and hydrated. I have noticed a reduction in my minor
cystic acne with 2-3 use of face wash daily. The toner also reduces those
whiteheads that can be felt to the touch, although it does not reduce them
beyond the surface of the skin. In a sense, it does not reduce the appearance
of pores or blackheads. Ahaglow face wash also lasts longer. A 50 gm tube can
easily last for more than 2 months though it depends on how many times you use
it in a week.
Along with the scrub, Ahaglow Facial Wash provides instant
fairness without drying out the skin. The basic catch here is that since the
skin does not dry out, it is more likely to irritate the skin. Also note that
facial cleansers will be somewhat flaky and the actual effect also depends on
the type of moisturizer you use. Every time I use oil free moisturizer my face
feels great and acne starts to reduce. Whenever I use other moisturizers that
are not oil free, I can notice an increase in pimples on my nose and the
surrounding area which was previously untouched.
As far as usage is concerned, initially I was not used to
the right way to use it. I did not apply toner in my palms, but tried to make a
lather on my face myself. It irritated my skin at times and I had some red
spots on my skin. I have been using the toner for almost a month or so now.
I really played around and considered a few things while
using face wash to avoid skin irritation.
Ahglow Facial Toner
Precautions
·
Make sure to apply the toner in the palms of
your hands and not directly on the skin.
·
Simply wipe on the toner and do not rub into any
areas.
·
Do not use more than required
·
Don't follow the 1-minute rule with this
facelift. Just 20 seconds is enough.
·
Do not massage it into hard areas of whiteheads
and blackheads.
·
Apply foaming toner to your face (like ice
skating :D)
·
Be as gentle and beautiful as possible when
using toner
·
Do not use it twice a day. Use twice a week in
the beginning and then see how it goes
·
Vitamin C (a completely different product) and
any AHAs should not be mixed. Vitamin C in the morning and glycolic acid in the
afternoon.
·
Retinoids and glycolic acid should not be used
at the same time. This can cause excessive peeling and the skin may become
irritated with redness or red bumps.
·
Contact your doctor if you are breastfeeding or
pregnant.
